Who We Are

The Indigenous Roots and Reparation Foundation (IRRF) is an Indigenous led nonprofit established in 2021 to preserve history, culture, traditions and language through education and advocacy.

Our Goal

To provide a space on ancestral homelands for members of all tribes to practice cultural traditions, ceremony, and fellowship.

This space will also serve as a hub for tribal members displaced by wildfire.

Our Vision

IRRF strives to build relationships within our community for the purpose of Earth preservation, recognition of the intrinsic value of all species and ecosystems, ensuring clean water and air, and returning human activity to a balanced, sustainable level.

The IRRF board collaborated to define what Land Back & Reparations mean to us.

Land Back

Indigenous people are the original stewards of this land. Throughout history, we have shared a relationship with the land, living in reciprocity of the abundant resources it provides. Landback is a pathway for Indigenous people to establish sovereign space that honors our waterways, ecosystems, and cultural traditions in a purposeful manner without causing harm.

Reparation

History does not have to repeat itself. By acknowledging the trauma created by past mistakes, there is opportunity to produce meaningful change for today’s Indigenous people. Through intentional acts, whether monetary or otherwise, that honor Indigenous people and the land taken from us, so begins the process of reparations.
